Leave Your Mark in the Sand

In addition to learning during several days of highly regarded educational sessions, those attending the 22nd Annual Marketing & Business Development Conference will also "Give Galveston A Hand" as the coastal city recovers from the devastation of last September's Hurricane Ike. At the core of this year's team building exercise, attendees will participate in a four-hour work project to help restore Galveston Island sand dunes. Hundreds of hands. Millions of grains of sands. And one intention...to help make a difference!

If you cannot make it to Galveston to participate in the annual TCUL Marketing & Business Development Conference, you can still bring the spirit-the spirit of giving. The spirit of making a difference, here's how.

Find a project or program that you can develop into a PR campaign.

The ultimate goal, of course, is to make a difference in your community and in the lives of others. But if the project can be turned into an event that helps put a positive spotlight on your credit union-well, then that is making a difference...with a purpose!

Write up your plan. After you've put your plan into action (that involves at least four hours of community service or effort), communicate your success at making a difference. Shout back in the comment section below and share your plan, efforts and results.  If you have a video, post it on You Tube and include the link.

We'll then post your challenge on the "Give Galveston A Hand" website and share with others.

Thanks for making a difference... and leaving your mark in the sand.
